Our Community – An update for 2021

  • Our Community

There is a uniqueness to be found on the Island in the real sense of community that is valued by so many, something people often don’t realise until they come here and experience it for themselves.
After keeping your head down on the tube and bustling to get to work, it is a welcome change to walk along the street and be greeted with a friendly hello and willingness by others to help if you are ever in need.
At Spence Willard we appreciate and enjoy everything that the Island has to offer, from the expanse of green spaces to the beautiful seas we are surrounded by, and as such are proud sponsors of the Spence Willard Wednesday Evening Racing Series at
the Royal Solent Yacht Club, the annual Yarmouth Sandcastle Competition, Brading Haven Yacht Club Youth Sailing as well as their community paddle boarding lessons, and the Isle of Wight Literary Festival to name but a few.

This year we welcome Freshwater Bay Golf Club & Ryde School Sailing to the list of clubs and events that we are proud to support.

David Lindsay, Marketing Director at Freshwater Bay Golf Club has said:

‘We are proud to have Spence Willard as our ‘Headline Sponsor’ and look forward to an exciting partnership over the coming months and years.
The impressive new welcome board at the entrance to the course has been funded by them, along with a navy blue buggy featuring their company logo.
We feel sure that our members will appreciate the importance of local business involvement and that visitors will recognise that they are the premier estate agent on the Island.
The post Covid period has seen a resurgence of interest in golf with membership rising and a realisation that this outdoor activity can offer not only a healthy lifestyle but an increase in social activity with the local community at its heart!’

At Ryde we hold a firm belief that sailing builds resilience, independence and confidence in our young people. Our proximity to the heart of the UK sailing scene and the contacts and partnerships that affords, ensures our pupils have access to unrivalled opportunities.

CLAUDIA MANSER, RYDE SCHOOL DIRECTOR OF SAILING
