Island Stories | Episode 8 – Robert Thompson

  • Island Life

Spence Willard are proud to support Island Stories,
bringing you the unique stories of those that live
on the Isle of Wight

It’s the final episode of Season 1 of the podcast – and we’ve got a ‘Michelin-starred’ interview for you. Robert Thompson – chef and restaurateur – and now newly-minted Chef Patron at boutique hotel North House in Cowes.
Robert has been on the Island since taking over as Head Chef at The Hamborough in Ventnor in 2008, earning a Michelin star for the Island one year later.
We chat about his new venture at North House, his award-winning career as a chef and the need for the Island to have its own abattoir in order to become fully sustainable – in the face of rising food prices.
Finally on the podcast we always ask the same quickfire 5 questions about the Island.

So here are Robert Thompson’s 5 Island things:

1.Favourite place to eat or grab a coffee?

The Heron

2.Best place for a walk, swim or meditation?
Swimming pool at North House

3.Favourite Island activity?
Mackerel fishing off Yarmouth

4.Which Island charity is closest to your heart?
Mountbatten Hospice

5.What do you love most about this island of ours?
The ‘unspoilt’ nature

Don’t forget to subscribe to be sure you don’t miss any other Island Stories episodes!

Each and every one of us has a unique Island story, what is yours?
Uncovering the characters and personalities of those who’ve made the Isle of Wight – home.
